Making Connections

Outer chaos, inner calmness, and healing

The virus is impacting the way which we make connections with each other. Let me tell you a story that happened a number of years ago. I was coming out of my office building downtown Duluth in Minnesota. Duluth is known for its hills. When I came out that door with lower part of the hill, and made a right turn, started to walk uphill to get to the next avenue. There’s a woman about 30 feet ahead of me, dressed like a professional woman. Maybe about 20 feet ahead of this person, was a man with a suit on, purposely walked up that hill. Then around the corner came this gentleman not dressed at all like these two people. Like of like raguly, jacket, not too kept in those shoes. Obviously, he’s not come back from a board meeting. As he passed this gentleman down the hill, the two never looked at each other. Up came a gentleman. Down came this gentleman. No connection at all. When he came down the street a little further on the sidewalk, passed the woman, too, neither one of them looked at each other. No connection at all. When he reached at me, he looked at me and I looked at him. I said, “What’s up, man?” What’s the cause to say hello to someone? When I said, “Hey, how are you?” He reached to his pockets. He took out a handful of donuts. “Donuts. They give away the donuts just around the corner. They are good donuts. Don't you want to get some? Take some before they are gone.” This man, giving me information that the other two people never got. The reason for that was not so much but to make the connection. Almost like when I made the connection, I got more information.

If I didn’t make the connection, I wouldn’t have found out the donuts. I wouldn’t have this source of information.

So, the social distancing, is surely impacting the kinds of connections we make. In the reality and the spirituality. In the reality, it’s like the two people walking ahead of me 40 feet apart each other. It's limited. It’s linear. Not making any direct connection. Then they lost the information. That's not saying that’s bad. Nothing wrong with that woman or something wrong with that man. It's reality. Both maybe have somewhere to go, something to do. No problem. That's reality.

But making the connection. The spirituality is making that connection. It's realizing that there’s more to see beyond the visible. There's more going on beyond what’s happening, what you see. Beyond the immediate. It’s almost as if I made a connection between another world. So, the two of us have two worlds. Two worlds’ connection.

With this virus, with this social distancing, it’s always trying to find a way that you can make a connection. Right now, the reality thing is making the connection a little tougher. But the spirituality, making the connections where? To this world (heart). This is where the other world is. The information comes. Quiet it down. Making the connection is so beautiful. You always have that to come back to.

I’ve heard stories that angels come and take the form of humans to do their work. I have also heard that aliens from other planets come and take the form of humans in order to destroy the world. How can I tell the difference between the angels and the destroyers of the world? You know how? They are looking out for the best of you. Making the connection inside. There are many thoughts, many feelings, many kinds of demon like fears. But you make the connection to the heart, to the consciousness. You know that you have this feeling, this being of light is making a deep powerful connection. It looks out for you. Of course, I will go with the person who has the donuts.
