                            Master Lin Conf. 2008

The 2008 Spring Forest Qigong
International Conference in Brief

Several hundred people from far and wide gathered together in Minneapolis last month for the annual Spring Forest Qigong International Conference, this year entitled "Enlightenment through Unconditional Love." From Thursday evening to mid-day Sunday, April 17-20, attendees listened intently to presentations on the main stage by Master Lin and others, attended breakout sessions and healing appointments, participated in guided meditations, perused the SFQ store, exchanged Qigong stories, and just enjoyed each other's company.

On Saturday, a number of people were surprised, delighted, and quite emotional as they were called on stage and awarded newly-created Spring Forest Qigong titles, each one representing many hours of education and healing experience. (To view specific Master Healer requirements, scroll to the end of this newsletter above "Services Available.") The recipients of these new titles were:

Level I Certified Instructor: (in photo above, back row, from left to right) Glenn Tobey, Noel Radcliffe, Barbara Palmer, Patrick Dougherty, Dany Carol, Bonnie Blanchette, Gary Rebstock, (front row, left to right) Katrina Tobey, Cathy  Beedle, Deanne Kroll, Phyllis Jazdzewski, and Tom Jazdzewski. Master Lin is at the far right. Not pictured are Darcie Gustine, Dave Johnson, Sheila Judd, Joyce Perkins, and Jennie Trotter.

Master Healer: (in photo below) Dave Johnson, Spring Forest Qigong President and C.E.O. (at the podium), and Master Lin (far right), present Master Healer certificates to (from left to right) Patrick Dougherty (Level I), Arlis Feser (Level II), Mary Zelmer (Level I), Bonnie Blanchette (Level I), Tom Jazdzewski (Level I), and Darcie Gustine (Level II). Darcie is behind Master Lin.

Saturday evening brought an SFQ first--a medication concert (photo below) performed by members of the Chinese Music Ensemble: (from left to right) Peiju Picard, Principal Musician; Zhang Ying, renowned musician, composer, and co-creator of Spring Forest meditation music; and Charlotte King, founder and president of the Chinese Music Ensemble, who has also performed for SFQ meditation CDs. Master Lin sat center stage in full lotus position and, with hauntingly lovely melody being created behind him, led participants in a guided meditation.

Much healing took place at this conference, and many things were learned, including:

  • For a long and healthy life, forgive yourself and others
  • Be flexible in the face of frustration and disappointment
  • Realize you are an energy being and a being of love
  • The purpose of life is happiness
  • A simple smile will start your level energy moving
After the conference, Francisco Nunes of the Netherlands sent us a photo of Master Lin meditating on stage (left) and wrote, "The photo was taken at the very end of Friday's evening meditation. You probably didn't see it, since your were supposed to have your eyes shut and be in deep meditation ([Francisco must have peeked.]. For those who weren't there...well, make sure you are there next time!"

Ask Master Lin

Do you have something you would like to ask Master Lin? Each month we will select a question that has been sent to us and publish the answer in this newsletter (your name will not be used). Please keep in mind that Master Lin does not diagnose medical conditions and will not be able to personally answer each question. If you would like a member of our support team to get back to you, please make note of that in your e-mail or letter. Send questions to newsletter@springforestqigong.com.

Question: If we are truly comprised of energy as our life force, how important is proper nutrition to overall health? Thank you for your response.

Answer: We are all energy beings. As a form of energy, we need support so that we can keep this form of energy going to the right direction. Proper nutrition is very important in our life. When you eat right and healthy, your body is healthy and happy. Nutrition, exercises, sleeping, and a appositive attitude are four major parts of a good life. Nutrition is very important to overall health.

Level I Instructor
Certification Program

As mentioned in our last newsletter, a part of Master Lin's mission for many years is about to become a reality. There is now a program to certify people to teach Level I of Spring Forest Qigong. This two-day class will give instructors the tools they need to deliver a consistent presentation of Level I information to their students.

Plans for three Spring Forest Qigong instructor certification classes in 2008, to be held in the Minneapolis area, are now in place.

Classes will be held:

?  May 16 & 17 at the Oak Ridge Conference Center (link to Oak Ridge)
?  August 15 & 16 (to be announced)
?  October 3 & 4 (to be announced)

There are many benefits of being a Level I Certified Instructor, including:

1.  A multimedia presentation licensed to you with content slides, video and sound (PowerPoint and/or DVD)

2.  A trainer's manual with key steps, critical points, etc., for each module

3.  An instructor discount on all training products (DVDs, CDs, and manuals) ordered through SFQ (web site or store)

4. Recognition and promotion on SFQ's web site, allowing clients to search for Level I Certified Instructors in specific areas (by zip code), find out when classes are scheduled, etc. SFQ will assist in promotion and advertising of your classes.

5. Recognition and promotion on SFQ's web site of all Certified Instructors, allowing customers (do you think "customers" has a negative connotation? Maybe "clients"?) to search for Level I instructors in specific areas (by zip code) and identify who they are, when classes are schedule, etc. SFQ will assist in promotion and advertising of your classes.

Applicants for this class must have completed Spring Forest Qigong Level I, II, and III and will need to pass a criminal background check. For information on fees (applicants who attended the guide class in 2005 may inquire about a discount) and applications, contact the SFQ Center at 952-593-5555.

SFQ International Guild Update

At the May 10th Guild meeting, held at the Eisenhower Community Center in Hopkins, Minnesota, Master Lin will shared teachings on death and the next circle of life.

There is no Guild meeting scheduled for May 24th due to the Memorial holiday weekend.

On April 26th the Guild participated in World Tai Chi and Qigong Day at Normandale Community College in Bloomington, Minnesota. Twenty six healers provided SFQ healing session for more than 350 participants. It is a wonderful thing to see our healers take Master Lin?s vision of a healer in every family and a world without pain out into the world.

If you would like to know more about the SFQ International Guild, please visit the Guild page on the SFQ web site.

Celebrating Vesak

Vesak is an annual celebration of the Buddha's birth, death, and enlightenment, and is observed in many different ways all over the world. Commonly, Buddhist monks recite the 2,500-year-old teachings of the Buddha and call upon people to live in peace and harmony, respecting other religious faiths. They also try to bring a measure of happiness into the lives of less-fortunate people with gifts of food, money, and loving deeds.

A Vesak celebration was held Saturday, May 10, 2008, at Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, Minnesota. The theme of this year's celebration was "Meditative Healing," and the observance started with a meditation at the International Center, followed by a Sri Lankan curry luncheon for all who attended.

Master Lin began the afternoon events as the keynote speaker, sharing a healing meditation following his talk. After the keynote and healing meditation, there was a panel discussion focusing on the theme of the day. Panelists included Master Lin, nursing professor Jane Coleman, Buddhist monk Bhante Sathi, acupuncturist Amy Zoet, and energy therapist Melissa Shelton-Davis.

The day's celebration concluded with a blessing and a closing ceremony.

Services Available at SFQ

In-Person Sessions at the SFQ Center

During your half-hour session at the SFQ Center, you will sit comfortably and share your concerns with an Advanced SFQ Specialist. He or she will move a hand several inches from your body to detect and remove energy blockages. Active exercises and/or healing meditations may be suggested for further benefit. When he is available, Master Lin will spend the last five minutes of your session continuing to assist you in your healing journey.

Phone Appointments

Appointments with Master Lin, Master Nance, or one of the Advanced SFQ Specialists, are also available by telephone. During a phone appointment, you briefly describe your concerns and then sit quietly while blockages are being detected and removed. Following the session, you may meditate or just rest for about 30 minutes to allow the energy to continue to move.

Distance Sessions

With this type of session, there is no physical or verbal contact involved. Using simple information (a name, a location, a brief description of the area of concern), Master Lin, Master Nance, or one of the Specialists will remotely detect blockages and work to eliminate them.

Active Exercise Classes

Two Level I Active Exercise classes are available at the SFQ Center: one on Friday at noon and one on Tuesday evenings at 6:00 p.m. These classes focus on techniques to help relieve pain, reduce stress, and develop physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual health.

Coaching Sessions

In a coaching session, trained SFQ staff members will work one-on-one or in small groups to help you develop and use your natural ability to heal yourself and others.

SPECIAL NOTE: When you attend a coaching session or an Active Exercise class, you will receive a discount on your Center appointment during that week.

Scheduling: To schedule any of the above, or for more information, please call the Spring Forest Center at 952-593-5555.
