Meditation Held for Asia

On Thursday, May 22, Master Lin conducted a healing meditation  for all the people of Tibet, Myanmar, and China who were affected by the catastrophic events in their part of the world.

The meditation was free and open to the public, and the auditorium was filled with love and healing energy. Master Lin told several fascinating stories which he had heard from his brother, who lives in China:

?  A policewoman worked in the rescue effort for three days straight without resting, even though she had just lost nine members of her family, including her parents, her son, and her brother.

? The collapse of one elementary school building caused a pocket of space to be created under some fallen beams. Trapped in this hole were a group of terrified second-graders, crying and wet from the rain. A schoolteacher stayed by a small entrance to the hole for 12 hours before help finally came, talking soothingy to the children and telling them they would be alright. When rescuers finally did arrive, they pulled the little ones out one by one. The very last child to be removed was the only one who had died--the child of that heroic teacher. She sobbed
out her grief for several minutes and then realized all the other childen--many now without parents--needed her, and she gathered her courage   and went on to help them.

? As rescue workers searched through the rubble looking for signs of life, they encountered many dead bodies which they tagged for later removal. One worker, sensing something was not right, reached his hand under some debris covering a tagged body to find a baby, alive, lying on the stomach of his dead mother. Next to the baby was a cellphone  containing a message from the mother telling her child to always remember that his mother loved him.

These stories and others illustrate that in this time of such great disaster many people were able to put aside all but the most important thing: love.

Donations were accepted at the meditation and are still coming in to the SFQ Center daily. They will be forwarded to the International Red Cross Relief Effort at the end of June. About $5,000 were raised that night, bringing the total of contributions overall to more than $20,000--$10,000 of which were donated from a fund through The Minneapolis Foundation.

Ask Master Lin

Ask Master LinDo you have something you would like to ask Master Lin?  Each month we will select a question that has been sent to us and publish the answer in this newsletter (your name will not be used). Please keep in mind that Master Lin does not diagnose medical conditions and will not be able to personally answer each question. If you would like a member of our support team to get back to you, please make note of that in your e-mail or letter. Send questions to newsletter@springforestqigong.com.

Question: At the end of a meditation, we focus on the energy ball spinning clockwise in the lower dantian. Can you please tell me if this is clockwise when you're looking at the ball or clockwise as if the ball were insider our lower dantian?

Answer: If you were standing in front of your body, looking at yourself, you would see the energy ball spinning clockwise.

Sunshine Dal with Broccoli and Brown Rice

This delicious dish was served recently at an SFQ Center birthday party honoring Master Lin. It serves about six people and may be frozen for later use.

Dal ingredients2   cups yellow split peas (sift through to remove dirt or pebbles, rinse)
4   cups vegetable or chicken broth
1   14-ounce can coconut milk
1   medium yellow onion, diced
3   cloves garlic, pressed
1   tablespoon grated fresh ginger
2   teaspoons ground turmeric (reported to have anti-inflammatory properties)
1   teaspoon salt
1   medium bunch broccoli florets
1 ½  cups cooked brown rice
¼ cup chopped fresh parsley or cilantro as garnish (optional)
Place the first eight ingredients in a large pot and simmer over medium heat until split peas are very soft--approximately one hour (test by using a spoon to mash a few peas against the side of the pan).

Dal in potPlace the first eight ingredients in a large pot and summer over medium heat until split peas are very soft--approximately one hours (test by using a spoon to mash a few peas against the side of the pan).

Enjoy served over brown rice with chopped fresh parsley or cilantro sprinkled on top.

In Chinese medicine, broccoli is considered a cooling vegetable and may aid in clearing heat, promoting diuresis, and brightening the eyes.

A few slices of tomato on the
side would add some nice color!

*Services Available at SFQ

In-Person Sessions at the SFQ Center

During your half-hour session at the SFQ Center, you will sit comfortably and share your concerns with an Advanced SFQ Specialist. He or she will move a hand several inches from your body to detect and remove energy blockages. Active exercises and/or healing meditations may be suggested for further benefit. When he is available, Master Lin will spend the last five minutes of your session continuing to assist you in your healing journey.

Phone Appointments

Appointments with Master Lin, Master Nance, or one of the Advanced SFQ Specialists, are also available by telephone. During a phone appointment, you briefly describe your concerns and then sit quietly while blockages are being detected and removed. Following the session, you may meditate or just rest for about 30 minutes to allow the energy to continue to move.

Distance Sessions

With this type of session, there is no physical or verbal contact involved. Using simple information (a name, a location, a brief description of the area of concern), Master Lin, Master Nance, or one of the Specialists will remotely detect blockages and work to eliminate them.

*Active Exercise Classes

Two Level I Active Exercise classes are available at the SFQ Center: one on Friday at noon and one on Tuesday evenings at 6:00 p.m. These classes focus on techniques to help relieve pain, reduce stress, and develop physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual health.

*Coaching Sessions

In a coaching session, trained SFQ staff members will work one-on-one or in small groups to help you develop and use your natural ability to heal yourself and others.

*SPECIAL DISCOUNT: When you attend a coaching session or an Active Exercise class, you will receive a discount on your Center appointment during that week.
