SFQ logo

Master Lin had the SFQ logo designed to show tender new leaves of spring-time, symbolizing growth, optimism, and excitement. The leaves may also be seen as hands or arms cradling a small red energy ball, representing hope, healing, and new life.

What is Qigong?

Qigong (pronounced "chee-gong") is one of the cornerstones of traditional Chinese medicine. "Qi" is the universal energy that makes up and flows through everything in the universe. In our bodies, it is vitality or life force. "Gong" means to practice, cultivate, or refine, leading to mastery. "Qigong," then, means to cultivate or refine one's vitality or life force through practice.

Spring Forest helps in this endeavor by offering a number of classes, workshops, and retreats. We also schedule individual, telephone, and distance sessions through our Center in Eden Prairie, Minnesota.

 The Spring Forest Vision

Lotus flower

Our vision is "a healer in every family and a world without pain." To help take this vision to the next level, Spring Forest Qigong has made some exciting additions to our programs, including  active exercise classes at the Spring Forest Center and a program to train Spring Forest Qigong teachers.

Qi~ssage Is Here!

Qi~ssage Learning Course CoverThe greatly-anticipated Qi~ssage Learning Course is now available on the SFQ website and at the SFQ Center. Like massage, Qi~ssage involves touching and physical stimulation of the body. Like qigong, Qi~ssage focuses on balancing and enhancing the flow of energy through the body's energy channels, or meridians.

If you haven't yet watched the video demonstration of this new dimension in healing techniques, take a few minutes to learn more. You can then experience Qi~ssage for yourself by scheduling an appointment (currently being offered on Wednesdays) with a master healer at the Center by calling 952-593-5555.

If coming to the Center isn't an option at present, you can do Qi~ssage for yourself, your partner, your parents, your children -- anyone! Master Lin designed it to be simple to learn, easy to use, and a great way to connect with your family and friends to help relax, unwind, and relieve stress at any time.

Ask Master Lin

Master Chunyi LinDo you have something you would like to ask Master Lin?  Each month we will select a question that has been sent to us and publish the answer in this newsletter (your name will not be used). Please keep in mind that Master Lin does not diagnose medical conditions and will not be able to personally answer each question. If you would like a member of our support team to get back to you, please make note of that in your e-mail or letter. Send questions to newsletter@springforestqigong.com.

Question: Is qigong a religion?

Answer: Qigong is not a religion. It is the study of energy flow in the body and the relationship between the body and nature. Sometimes when people hear "mind/body/spirit," they mistakenly think the spirit aspect has to be connected to a religious practice.

Everyone has heart energy that is capable of unconditional love and sees goodness in all people. Qigong quiets the mind and helps the energy flow unobstructed through the body. It opens up the spirit or heart energy.

It is a goal of Spring Forest Qigong to help you open your heart energy, making it easier to practice love, kindness, and forgiveness. This helps develop and purify your overall energy, allowing you to heal much more quickly and to also help others heal much more quickly.

If you have a religious belief, you have this heart energy. If you don't have a religious belief, you still have this heart energy. It is inherent in all of us, and you can choose whether or not to use it in a religious practice.

Karyn Huemoeller ff crop

When Karyn Huemoeller of Hastings, Minnesota, learned that her breast cancer had returned and had spread to her liver, she was devastated. The prognosis was that she would not survive. Karyn refused to accept that and went searching for alternative treatment. As part of that treatment, she chose working with Chunyi Lin and his Spring Forest Qigong techniques. To her doctors' amazement, Karyn did survive and is now completely cancer-free. She says Chunyi Lin and Spring Forest Qigong not only saved her life but gave her a whole new way of living and looking at life.

"I'm living proof it works," she says. "Try it!"

An excerpt from the video: "I rejected conventional cancer treatments from your classically trained oncologists because they didn't work the first time. This time it was my life that hung in the balance and I was resolved to find alternative measures to find healing.  And, fast forward, after six, seven months of both medical treatments and visiting with Master Lin in the Spring Forest Qigong Center I am completely healed. My cancer's gone. My doctors call me a 'walking miracle.'"

Spring Forest Qigong and Anxiety

Stress, anxiety, and panic attacks all constrict the flow of energy through the body. Learning specific qigong breathing techniques and active exercises can help you immediately begin to open the natural flow of energy, allowing you to focus your mind, relax your body, and open your heart. Once you have learned how to intervene in your anxiety, it becomes easy to maintain that relaxed flow of energy throughout your day with simple techniques incorporating qigong.

Restoring your mind, body, and heart to their natural rhythm is something that we all have the capacity to do, and SFQ will show you how simple it can be in our first one-day workshop entitled "Spring Forest Qigong and Anxiety: Relaxing into the Flow of Your Life."

This will be the first of a new type of qigong experience: the one-day workshop. These wonderful opportunities, held throughout the year, will be geared to offer a large amount of valuable information in a short amount of time. Keep your eye on our website or watch this newsletter for information about future one-day workshops!

"Spring Forest Qigong and Anxiety: Relaxing into the Flow of Your Life" will be held February 28 from 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Location (Minneapolis area) and registration information will follow shortly.

Qigong Experiences

In the last issue of the SFQ Energy Connection we asked if you'd like to share any experiences you've had while meditating or having a qigong session. Here are some responses we'd thought you'd enjoy:

"I have felt peace and tranquility every time I have had a qigong session, but one time stands out in particular: I cried the entire half-hour session--a stream of tears that just kept flowing. It was a shock to me, but it was beautiful at the same time. Even though I was crying continuously, I felt calm. Any pent-up or not-dealt-with emotions seemed to be flashing through my mind as tears streamed down my face. It truly felt as though my emotions were being washed or removed from my body physically.

Things passed through my mind that day that I was unaware were weighing so heavy on me. It made total sense that they would have been bothering me, but they were not in my consciousness until then. It all came together, and it was a beautiful feeling to know emotions were leaving my body and helping me to physically heal."

Qigong Experiences continued...

If you have had an experience you would like to share, send an e-mail to newsletter@springforestqigong.com.

SFQ is on Facebook!

As you may know, Facebook is a popular networking website used to connect and interact with other people online. To help support each other in our vision of "a healer in every family and a world without pain," Spring Forest Qigong now has a Facebook group.

If you are already involved with other groups online through this service, you'll know what to do to take part in the SFQ Facebook site. If not, consider joining Facebook so you can participate in features such as the lively discussion board (with engaging topics such as "Qigong Practice," "What do you like most about Spring Forest Qigong?" and soon-to-be-added topics of your choice).

We'll be posting event information and updates as well as other exciting SFQ information, so you'll want to list the group as a favorite and check back often!

Baskets of Hope

The holidays are a difficult time for low-income families, and this past season employees at the Spring Forest Qigong Center were able to provide some assistance. More than $800 was donated through the Emergency Foodshelf Network to a local program, Baskets of Hope, which provided families with food, clothing, and toys.

Baskets included meat, potatoes, fruit, vegetables, dinner rolls, stuffing, yams, rice, gravy, cranberries, and pie...as well as clothing and toys.

We were happy to be able to make some families' holidays a little cheerier.

Services Available at SFQ

In-Person Sessions at the SFQ Center ($95)

During your half-hour session at the SFQ Center, you will sit comfortably and share your concerns with a Master Healer. He or she will move a hand several inches from your body to detect and remove energy blockages. Active exercises and/or healing meditations may be suggested for further benefit. When he is available, Master Lin will spend the last five minutes of your session continuing to assist you in your healing journey.

Schedule a private instruction session (30 minutes for $40 or 60 minutes for $60) and get one office session at the discounted rate of $70 (a $25.00 savings).  The office session must be scheduled at the time the private instruction is scheduled.

Take an active exercise class (series of four), and get four office sessions at the discounted rate of $70 (a total savings of $100!).

Phone Appointments ($80)

Appointments with Master Lin, Master Nance, or one of the Master Healers, are also available by telephone. During a phone appointment, you briefly describe your concerns and then sit quietly while blockages are being detected and removed. Following the session, you may meditate or just rest for about 30 minutes to allow the energy to continue to move.

Schedule a private instruction session via the telephone and get one phone session at the discounted rate of $59 (a $21 savings). The phone session must be scheduled within 30 days of the private instruction.

Phone Sessions for Pets ($40)

These appointments may be scheduled for 1:00-2:00 p.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays, and 3:00-4:20 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Due to the unpredictability of animals, appointments will be scheduled for a 15-minute period of time, although the entire 15 minutes allotted may not be necessary. Sessions must be made by the person who will be present with the animal during the time the healing is taking place.

Distance Sessions ($20)

With this type of session, there is no physical or verbal contact involved. Using simple information (a name, a location, a brief description of the area of concern), Master Lin, Master Nance, or one of the Master Healers will remotely detect blockages and work to eliminate them.

Active Exercise Classes (four weekly sessions for $75)

Three Level One active exercise classes are now available at the SFQ Center: Tuesdays at 6:00 p.m., Thursdays at 2:00 p.m. and Friday's at noon. These classes focus on techniques to help relieve pain, reduce stress, and develop physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual health.
