Guild ReachOut continued...
When we arrived to set up our table and the vendors nearby saw who we represented, we heard many exclamations of recognition and comments of appreciation for SFQ. Many people had sent their clients to the SFQ Center or had taken classes.
What I noticed most at this and other ReachOut events were the transformations that occurred as the volunteers and the people whom they assisted connected with one another. I remembered what Master Lin has taught us: "There are no accidents." And I saw how all these people were meant to meet and help heal each other. I noticed that these connections also heal me, people in the room with us, and the space we are in. I have no doubt the healing continues to resonate out into the community and the world.
We balanced the energy of more than eighty people throughout the day, with ten volunteers staffing three shifts. When I asked ReachOut team members what I could write in this article to describe their experiences, I heard comments such as:
· "FUN!" · "Wonderful team support!" · "I can do this!" · "I'm so glad I came." · "I don't want to leave." (several stayed well over their shift)
I also heard, "Sign us all up for next year!" Indeed we will. Mary Zelmer ReachOut Team Leader, Restore Event
