SFQ logo

Master Lin had the SFQ logo designed to show tender new leaves of spring-time, symbolizing growth, optimism, and excitement. The leaves may also be seen as hands or arms cradling a small red energy ball, representing hope, healing, and new life.

What is Qigong?

Qigong (pronounced "chee-gong") is one of the cornerstones of traditional Chinese medicine. "Qi" is the universal energy that makes up and flows through everything in the universe. In our bodies, it is vitality or life force. "Gong" means to practice, cultivate, or refine, leading to mastery. "Qigong," then, means to cultivate or refine one's vitality or life force through practice.

Spring Forest helps in this endeavor by offering a number of classes, workshops, and retreats. We also schedule individual, telephone, and distance sessions through our Center in Eden Prairie, Minnesota.

 The Spring Forest Vision

Lotus flower

Our vision is "a healer in every family and a world without pain." To help take this vision to the next level, Spring Forest Qigong has made some exciting additions to our programs, including  active exercise classes at the Spring Forest Center and a program to train Spring Forest Qigong teachers.

Spring Forest Qigong

Anxiety Workshop

Anxiety wrkshp logo

"Spring Forest Qigong and Anxiety: Relaxing into the Flow of Your Life," a one-day workshop being held Saturday, February 28, will be packed with information about how Spring Forest Qigong can help you deal with stress, anxiety, and panic attacks, all of which constrict the flow of energy through the body.

Restoring your mind, body, and heart to their natural rhythm is something that we all have the capacity to do, and Master Lin, along with Patrick Dougherty, M.A., L.C.P., will show you how simple it can be. You will learn specific qigong breathing techniques and active exercises that can help you immediately begin to open the natural flow of energy, allowing you to focus your mind, relax your body, and open your heart.

Once you have learned how to intervene in your own anxiety, it becomes easy to maintain a relaxed flow of energy throughout your day with these simple techniques.

 Ask Master Lin

Do you have something you would like to ask Master Lin?  Each month we will select a question that has been sent to us and publish the answer in this newsletter (your name will not be used). Please keep in mind that Master Lin does not diagnose medical conditions and will not be able to personally answer each question. If you would like a member of our support team to get back to you, please make note of that in your e-mail or letter. Send questions to
newsletter@springforestqigong.com.

Question: Is it possible to accumulate too much qi when practicing Small Universe or active exercise?

Answer: The purpose of the Small Universe meditation and the active exercises is to remove blockages, open the channels or meridians of the body, and restore the flow and balance of energy in the body so that it can
heal naturally. If your body needs energy, it is restored and brought to balance. Any energy you do not need is released.

You cannot accumulate too much qi because you only take in what is required to bring your energy to perfect balance. The more you practice, more energy channels and centers will open and you will restore more qi in your system. You will advance to higher levels, and in these higher levels you will balance your energy/qi again.

  Be Our Valentine, Lauretta

The Merriam-Webster dictionary defines a valentine as "a sweetheart chosen or complimented on Valentine's Day." With that special time just around the corner, we've chosen SFQ practitioner Lauretta Taggart of St. Paul, Minnesota, to be our valentine. As you're reading the following, try to figure out just what makes Lauretta so special!

She was born in northern Minnesota close to the Canadian border in the Red River Valley near Grand Forks. After her mother died, her grandmother moved in to care for the five children. The older woman wasn't used to farm work or lots of children, so Lauretta, being "the naughty one" and more difficult to manage, became "the boy in our family," joining her father outside to do farm chores ranging from shocking hay to driving horses.

Video Testimonial

    Nancy Robbins

Nancy Robbins began studying Spring Forest Qigong hoping to find relief from her chronic insomnia. She was amazed and very grateful for the results and developed the confidence to start helping others. She's helped relieve her husband's chronic back pain. She's helped her neighbors in Vail, Colorado, and she's helped pets to heal as well.

As you'll see in the video (click on image above or link below and scroll down), Nancy lights up when she talks about her experiences. She is yet another wonderful example of an SFQ student helping fulfill Master Lin's vision of "a healer in every family and a world without pain.

Services Available at SFQ

In-Person Sessions at the SFQ Center ($95)

During your half-hour session at the SFQ Center, you will sit comfortably and share your concerns with a Master Healer. He or she will move a hand several inches from your body to detect and remove energy blockages. Active exercises and/or healing meditations may be suggested for further benefit. When he is available, Master Lin will spend the last five minutes of your session continuing to assist you in your healing journey.

Schedule a private instruction session (30 minutes for $40 or 60 minutes for $60) and get one office session at the discounted rate of $70 (a $25.00 savings).  The office session must be scheduled at the time the private instruction is scheduled.

Take an active exercise class (series of four), and get four office sessions at the discounted rate of $70 (a total savings of $100.00!).

Phone Appointments ($80)

Appointments with Master Lin, Master Nance, or one of the Master Healers, are also available by telephone. During a phone appointment, you briefly describe your concerns and then sit quietly while blockages are being detected and removed. Following the session, you may meditate or just rest for about 30 minutes to allow the energy to continue to move.

Schedule a private instruction session via the telephone and get one phone session at the discounted rate of $59 (a $21 savings). The phone session must be scheduled within 30 days of the private instruction.

Phone Sessions for Pets ($40)

These appointments may be scheduled for 1:00-2:00 p.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays, and 3:00-4:20 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Due to the unpredictability of animals, appointments will be scheduled for a 15-minute period of time, although the entire 15 minutes allotted may not be necessary. Sessions must be made by the person who will be present with the animal during the time the healing is taking place.

Distance Sessions ($20)

With this type of session, there is no physical or verbal contact involved. Using simple information (a name, a location, a brief description of the area of concern), Master Lin, Master Nance, or one of the Master Healers will remotely detect blockages and work to eliminate them.

Active Exercise Classes (four weekly sessions for $75)

Three Level One active exercise classes are now available at the SFQ Center: Tuesdays at 6:00 p.m., Thursdays at 2:00 p.m. and Friday's at noon. These classes focus on techniques to help relieve pain, reduce stress, and develop physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual health.

Take an active exercise class (series of four), and get four office sessions at the discounted rate of $70 (a total savings of $100.00!).
