Master LinAsk Master Lin

Do you have something you would like to ask Master Lin?  Each month we will select a question that has been sent to us and publish the answer in this newsletter (your name will not be used). Please keep in mind that Master Lin does not diagnose medical conditions and will not be able to personally answer each question. If you would like a member of our support team to get back to you, please make note of that in your e-mail or letter. Send questions to newsletter@springforestqigong.com

This month's question: I find myself giving my own energy to my clients (the person asking this question is a midwife). How do healers of all professions balance their own needs against the needs of clients?

Answer:  During your service, use the body-breathing techniques as much as you can so that you turn your servicing time into energy-collecting time. You and your client get benefit at the same time. After you finish your service, you take three deep breaths by focusing on your lower dantien so that you collect all the energy you need from the universe.

World Tai Chi and Qigong Day

World Tai Chi and Qigong Day (WTCQD) is an annual event held the last Saturday of April each year to promote the related disciplines of tai chi and qigong. It begins at
10:00 a.m. in New WTC&QDay LogoZealand and spreads by time zone around the world, ending in Hawaii. Several hundred cities in at least sixty nations participate, with celebrations including exhibitions and free classes.

WTCQD began in 1998 outside the Nelson Atkins Museum of Art in Kansas City, U.S.A., where the Kansas City Tai Chi Club held a large teaching exhibition. CNN Headline News covered the event, which has been celebrated globally ever since.

WTCQD exists to share medical research on the health benefits of tai chi and qigong; to spread the word about their increasing use in business, education, and health care; and to provide a global vision of cooperation in health and healing around the world.

Locally, Normandale Community College in Bloomington, Minnesota, is sponsoring a free celebration of this event. It will be held on April 26 (the tenth anniversary of WTCQD) on the Normandale campus, and Master Lin will be the keynote speaker.  See their web site for more information.

Level I Instructor

Certification Program

The much-anticipated Level I Instructor Certification Program will begin May 16 and 17, 2008, in the Minneapolis area. This program will give Spring Forest Qigong instructors the tools needed to deliver a consistent presentation of Level I information to their students--something that has been part of Master Lin's mission for years.

Applicants for this class must have completed Spring Forest Qigong Levels I, II, and III and will need to pass a criminal background check. For information on fees and applications (available the week of April 7) contact the SFQ Center at 952-593-5555.

Master Nance Healing Well

Master Jim Nance is at home healing from recent surgery to reattach ligaments that broke away from both his kneecaps when he fell on the ice in January.  His injury differed from Master Lin's (mentioned in the book Born a Healer), and necessitated surgery, because Master's Lin's problems were in his joints and did not involve severed ligaments.

Jim says he has felt "truly loved and supported" through this experience and is thankful to everyone. He is also very eager to be back seeing people at the Spring Forest Qigong Center. In the meantime, he is available for phone appointments six days a week--Saturdays have recently been added. Times vary, so check with the SFQ Center for details.

Services Available at SFQ

In-person Sessions at the SFQ Center

During your half-hour session at the SFQ Center, you will sit comfortably and share your concerns with an Advanced SFQ Specialist. He or she will move his or her hand several inches from your body to detect and remove energy blockages. Active exercises and/or healing meditations may be suggested for further benefit. When he is available, Master Lin will spend the last five minutes of your session continuing to assist you in your healing journey.

Phone Appointments

Appointments with Master Lin, Master Nance, or one of the Advanced SFQ Specialists, are also available by telephone. During a phone appointment, you briefly describe your concerns and then sit quietly while blockages are being detected and removed. Following the session, you may meditate or just rest for about 30 minutes to allow the energy to continue to move.

Distance Sessions

With this type of session, there is no physical or verbal contact involved. Using simple information (a name, a location, a brief description of the area of concern), Master Lin, Master Nance, or one of the Specialists will remotely detect blockages and work to eliminate them.

Active Exercise Classes

Two Level I active exercise classes are available at the SFQ Center: one on Friday at noon and one on Tuesday evenings at 6:00 p.m. These classes focus on techniques to help relieve pain, reduce stress, and develop physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual health.

Coaching Sessions

In a coaching session, trained SFQ staff members will work one-on-one or in small groups to help you develop and use your natural ability to heal yourself and others.

Scheduling: To schedule any of the above, or for more information,

please call the Spring Forest Center at 952-593-5555.
